SEARCY, AR (KAIT/KARK) -

The sight of standing water on his property has irritated Buddy Padgett for years.

However, the White County man said he will be working to improve his property as Searcy city officials work to deal with the issue.

According to KARK, Padgett said water can sit stagnant on his property for weeks at a time depending on the amount of rain the area receives. He said he is building a new deck at his home, but the sight of a puddle at the edge of the grass line is bad especially during the summer.

"When the heat gets turned on, it will almost turn a grayish green color and that's when the terrible odor will come out of this," Padgett said.

The Searcy City Engineer told KARK that they attempted to work on a project last year to improve the area but could not, due to the street department being overwhelmed with other projects.

However, officials are still working to get the project done.

When a judge set his bond at $100,000 a man suspected of aggravated residential burglary had just one thing to say to the judge: “Good bond.” But, the judge wasn’t finished. And neither was the suspect.
