Red Wolves Win Eight Events On First Day of Red Wolves Open

JONESBORO, Ark. (4/20/18) – The Arkansas State track and field teams won eight events on Friday to begin the Red Wolves Open at the A-State Track & Field Complex.

Cristian Ravar Ladislau broke his own school record in the hammer throw and won the event with a throw of 68.73m (225-06). Calea Carr won the women's hammer throw with a mark of 56.82m (186-05). The Red Wolves swept the long jump competitions with Carter Shell taking the men's competition with a leap of 7.41m (24-03.75) and Arabriaun Mack winning the women's event at 5.60m (18-04.50). Michael Carr rounded out the field event winners with a winning mark of 5.27m (17-03.50).

On the track, A-State added three top finishes. Caitland Smith posted a wind-aided 23.37 in the 200-meter dash to take the top spot. Heinrich Herbst raced to a time of 3:51.34 in the 1,500-meter run, the eighth-fastest time in program history. Pauline Meyer posted a time of 4:31.57 to take the women's 1,500-meter, the third-fastest time in program history.

Day two of the Red Wolves Open begins at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with the men's shot put. Action on the track begins at 12:00 with the 4x100-meter relays. Admission to the event is FREE at the A-State Track & Field Complex.
