IZARD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - An Izard County woman is in jail after deputies said she stabbed and killed a man.
According to the Izard County Sheriff's Department, deputies responded to a 911 call in the Gorby Community near Calico Rock around 1:15 a.m. Sunday.
Deputies discovered 29-year-old Joseph Stefka of Horseshoe Bend with what appeared to be a puncture wound to the chest. Stefka was taken to the Calico Rock Medical Center where he was pronounced dead around 2:25 a.m.
His body was sent to the state crime lab in Little Rock.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Stefka and his girlfriend had an argument over a recent breakup. Cydney Taylor and the girlfriend's mother were also at the residence during the fight.
At one point, Stefka's girlfriend and her mother went to the mother's bedroom and closed the door. Stefka did not follow them.
However, Taylor remained with Stefka and continued the argument.
The women in the bedroom heard yelling. They came out and found Stefka had been stabbed.
Deputies arrested 23-year-old Taylor of Dolph at the scene.
During an interview with Taylor, she told officers Stefka called her names. She then became mad, removed a knife from the knife block, and stabbed the man, according to court documents.
She was not injured and admitted that Stefka did not attack her during the argument.
Taylor has been charged with the first-degree murder, according to the Izard County Sheriff's Office. She's being held in lieu of a $200,000 bond.
