BONO, AR (KAIT) - When a Bono man got his pickup truck stuck in the mud Monday night, investigators said he decided to "borrow" another man's backhoe. After he got the heavy machinery stuck, officers stuck him in jail.
Craighead County District Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause Tuesday to charge 30-year-old Erick Wayne Wilson with theft of $25,000 or more-all others.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Wilson told a Bono police officer he had gotten his truck stuck on a field road and that he had "borrowed a backhoe to get it out."
Wilson then reportedly got the backhoe stuck.
The owner told the officer Wilson had not asked to borrow the implement and did not have permission to use it. He told the officer he wanted to press charges.
During an interview at the police station, Wilson reportedly admitted "he did not have permission to take the backhoe."
Wilson is being held on a $3,500 cash/surety bond awaiting a May 25 appearance in circuit court.
