Governor Asa Hutchinson will be hosting a town hall public meeting in Jonesboro Tuesday, May 1.

The meeting will take place at Wilson Hall Auditorium on Arkansas State University's campus and will be from 5 until 6 p.m.

The town hall meeting is part of his effort to discuss transforming and reorganizing government, and his plan to reduce the number of cabinet-level agencies that report to him by half.

According to a news release, since 2015 the governor has consolidated a number of agencies, removed more than 1,100 employees from the state payroll through attrition, and established a Transformation Advisory Board.

The Transformation Advisory Board is a volunteer group of citizens from both the public and private sector who work to identify cost savings within state government.
