BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - New leadership has brought new programs offered by one Region 8 homeless shelter.
The Mississippi County Union Mission does more than provide shelter to men, women, and children in need, it gives people with no hope, purpose.
Mary Lee Johnson and Lisa Willard started as volunteers and they're now running brand new programs centered around bettering their residents and the community.
They offer everything from roundtable talks about being better parents to intense 12-step programs to get clean.
Johnson and Willard said they've seen all the difference made in their people.
"Every day is really a joy," Willard said. "I feel like we are put on this earth for the purpose of helping other people especially when they're down and out, so I find really no other joy than seeing a life transformed."
Johnson and Willard said these programs are not just for the residents, they're available to anyone in the community.
If you're looking to help, the Mississippi County Union Mission is always in need of financial, clothing, food and furniture donations and volunteers.
