WALNUT RIDGE, AR (KAIT) -

Working women were honored on Administrative Professionals' Day in Walnut Ridge.

The Business and Professional Women Club hosted the luncheon and fundraiser, which drew a large crowd.

"This is just a community outreach event for our club," said event chairperson Kari Shanks.  "Really it's all about recognizing the working woman."

The luncheon also serves as a fundraiser for scholarships for high school senior girls in Lawrence County.

Several high school seniors attended the event Wednesday, along with many working women.

Miss Arkansas Maggie Benton served as the luncheon's guest speaker.

Some county and city leaders, as well as business people, also helped with the luncheon.

"It's kind of a tradition to have the business leaders come in and serve these women," she said.  "A lot them have sent their employees and they're just here to help and to show their appreciation."
