JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The number of crimes reported in the city of Jonesboro continues to fall.

The Jonesboro Police Department's Monthly Crime Report for March, released last Friday, states overall crime in the city fell 7% from the same month last year. Officers investigated a total of 1,247 reportable offenses.

Property crimes saw the biggest decrease from last year, down 84 incidents for a 13% decrease.

One area that saw an uptick was the department's Crimes of Proactive Policing which rose by 30 incidents for a 10% increase. Pornography/obscene material saw a 500% increase with 55 incidents reported. Meanwhile, according to the report, liquor law violations fell 38%.

Officers made 569 arrests, 66% of whom were male. According to the report, 50% of those arrested were Caucasian and 46% were African-American, 3% were Hispanic.
