WALNUT RIDGE, AR (KAIT) - A new grant will allow Walnut Ridge High School to add an EAST lab program.
The $100,000 grant will help provide equipment to allow the EAST program become a reality in the fall of 2018.
The program will be available for students in 7th through 12th grades. However, school officials say the EAST program will be beneficial to more than just students.
"It's a very community-involved program and we have very strong community involvement with our kids already," High School Principal Jacob Kersey said. "We had a Key Club last year where our kids logged over 1,400 hours of community service. So, our kids are already involved in the community. The EAST lab will just improve that."
Kersey told Region 8 News that the former consumer science room is being transformed. They hope to have it ready in time for eager students in the fall.
