CAVE CITY, AR (KAIT) - Cave City officials are working to connect those without work to potential jobs. It's called Get Hired Cave City.

Mayor Jonas Anderson said he and the police chief realized there were a lot of people in their community looking for jobs, so they want to make that process easier.

"It's different and a lot of cities you don't see them do stuff like that but I think for a small town like ours it's pretty innovative," Anderson said.

The city is going to use their social media and other resources to help businesses who are hiring connect with unemployed residents.

They also recently hosted a hiring event at city hall.

"We had five or six people total that got jobs but that's five or six families now that have jobs," Anderson said. "And these are good jobs with benefits and things like that so yeah, it's going to be really good for the city I think."

Aside from the job fair, there have also been multiple people hired through their listings on Facebook.

Anderson said this is just another way they can help meet the needs of residents.
