PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) -

A Greene County man is facing drug and failure to comply with reporting requirements charges after reportedly not doing well with his parole requirements, Paragould police said Thursday.

Brent West of Paragould was arrested April 25 on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance-felony, possession of a controlled substance-misdemeanor and failure to comply with registration and reporting requirements.

According to a probable cause affidavit, West went to Paragould in Oct. 2017 to register as a sex offender.

"His charge was from Louisiana and he had his parole changed to Arkansas," the affidavit noted. "He was advised that he was to return on April 9, 2018 for his 6 month verification and he was given a copy of his paperwork with the date that he was to return on it. He was also advised if there was any changes regarding employment, address, workplace or vehicle, he would need to come in and personally make those changes."

However, authorities alleged that as of April 19, West did not verify his address or make any attempts to contact the office.

A $10,000 bond was set for West on Thursday, police said.
