FORREST CITY, AR (KAIT) - Police arrested a man after receiving reports he pointed a gun at a woman near the courthouse.
Deontra Kelley, 23, of Forrest City is being held on suspicion of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by certain persons, theft by receiving, and obstructing governmental operations.
Forrest City police were called to the St. Francis County Courthouse on Tuesday regarding a man pointing a gun at a woman.
According to a news release from the police department, Kelley was in a white Chevy Impala driven by another person. As police officers and St. Francis County sheriff's deputies converged on the scene, they received word that the altercation had moved to the 500-block of East Davis.
Officers then went to the home and confronted Kelley who claimed "he did not do anything." According to the news release, Kelley also said he did not have a gun.
Investigators detained Kelley then searched the car after getting permission from the driver. They did not find a weapon.
However, officers did see a set of shoe prints in the mud that matched the design on the bottom of Kelly's boots heading to the east side of the property. As they searched the area, officers found a loaded Hungarian Arms Model R-9 9mm pistol.
"Once Kelly learned of the discovery, he immediately stated that he had taken the gun from the victim," the report stated. "Officers also learned that this was an ongoing dispute between household members."
