(KAIT) - One of the nation's largest vitamin shops will be closing some of its stores this year, with industry officials citing problems in the market as a reason.
According to a report from CNBC, GNC will close 200 of its stores in the United States and Canada this year. The company has nearly 8,000 stores around the world, with about a third of them in the United States and Canada.
GNC has about 1,000 domestic franchise locations.
Also, the company had a $6.2 million net income for the first quarter of the year, down from nearly $25 million a year ago. Revenues also fell while same-store were up gradually, CNBC reported.
