JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Hannah and Peanut are more than friends. They're dogs bonded by tragedy.

Their owner passed away from cancer in November.

"A good friend took them in," Kelly Ford, NEA Humane Society office manager, said. "But they had to surrender them due to moving."

The pair sense their loss and it took a while to adjust to life at the shelter.

"Peanut is very dependent on Hannah, which he was very wary of us for a few weeks," Ford said. "But once he got used to us, he's a very friendly dog. We're able to see his funny, cute personality."

Both dogs are up-to-date on vaccinations and will be spayed and neutered before leaving the shelter. Hannah is a 6 year old Reddish/Golden Lab Mix. Peanut is a 4 year old Gold and White Sheepdog mix.
