CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

Firefighters were called to the scene of Craighead County Road 7922 Monday afternoon when a mobile home caught fire around 2 p.m.

Firefighter John Burns with the Brookland Fire Protection District was one of the first people on the scene.

“When we arrived, we had flames exiting from one end of the structure," Burns said."We made an interior attack and were able to cut the fire off and save it from that end of the structure.”

Burns said they first got there they were worried someone might be inside.

“We were told initially there might be someone inside,” Burns said. “Our primary search showed there was no one inside. Then we were told there were pets inside and they escaped also.”

Burns said the home will likely be a total loss.

The Brookland Fire Department, Philadelphia Fire Department, and Southern Greene County Fire Dept. all responded to the fire.

Around 20 firefighters were on scene working to save the structure.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
