(KAIT) - The application period for public land permits for elk in the Buffalo River area of Northwest Arkansas begins Tuesday, May 1.
According to a post on the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission's Facebook page, applications will be accepted starting at 12 a.m. Tuesday until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, June 1.
The total number of permits available will be set during AGFC's meeting on May 17.
Twenty-six permits will be proposed for the online draw, and an additional three permits will be reserved for the onsite draw at the Buffalo River Elk Festival on June 23.
Applicants must have a valid Resident Sportsman Hunting License or more be a holder of a Lifetime Sportsman's Permit.
Those 16 and under must enter their social security number to create an account and apply.
Applicants must be at least six years old to participate.
