TRUMANN, AR (KAIT) -

The Trumann Police Department arrested two people during a kidnapping investigation.

A news release Tuesday stated that officers responded to the reported kidnapping at Cedar Park around 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Witnesses told police a man and a woman, carrying a black pistol and wooden bat, forced a female victim into a white Nissan Altima.

A few hours later the suspects, later identified as Amanda Tippitt and Danny Brown, returned the victim to her home.

Officers were staged there and arrested the pair following a traffic stop.

The victim informed investigators the "kidnapping stemmed from a drug deal gone wrong."

Investigators found the weapons the suspects threw out of the car near Bay after the victim pleaded to be released.

Brown and Tippitt are expected to be charged with the following:

  • Kidnapping
  • Aggravated robbery
  • Aggravated assault
  • Tampering with physical evidence
  • Obstructing governmental operations
  •  Possession of a firearm by certain persons
  • Terroristic threatening
