JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Jonesboro City Council heard the first reading of an ordinance that would modify the definition of the motel-hotel tax on Tuesday night.
The city's Finance and Administration Committee sent the ordinance to the full council.
Currently, the city collects a 3% tax on hotels and motel rentals.
The ordinance would make residential business rentals, such as Airbnb, collect the 3% tax as well.
The council voted to hold the ordinance to three readings and advance it to its second reading as well.
