LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas Department of Human Services says enrollees of the state's expanded Medicaid program who lack access to computers or have difficulty reading will be able to get assistance to comply with a new work requirement.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that Arkansas Works enrollees will be required next month to report online whether they hit the mandatory 80 hours a month working, spent time on an approved activity or qualified for exemptions.

They'll be able to enlist a helper, such as a relative or insurance agent.

The option was created after some lawmakers expressed concern that some people may have trouble completing a short online course on the state website.

The requirement will apply to residents covered by Medicaid-subsidized plans.
