PIGGOTT, AR (KAIT) -

Several high traffic areas in Piggott will soon have roundabouts.

The Arkansas Department of Transportation plans to add the three roundabouts to Highway 62 in Piggott.

One will be at the corner of North Street and Highway 62, another where Jackson Street meets Highway 62, while the final one will be installed at the corner of Jackson and Third streets.

Mayor Jim Poole says the roundabout will help with traffic issues in those areas.

"So when they start hauling grain through the here especially in the fall or when they're hauling to Corning, there's no way to get a car and a truck through those intersections at the same time," he said.

Poole said there will be a public meeting about the roundabouts.

The meeting will be held on June 26 at 4 p.m. at the Piggott Community Center.

ARDOT representatives will be there to answer citizens questions about the projects.

The work on the roundabouts could begin as soon as 2019.
