WALNUT RIDGE, AR (KAIT) -

Both the graduates of Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge and the college reached a milestone Saturday with its final graduation as a college.

"Congrats, Class of 2018!," a Facebook post from the college read Saturday. "Last to graduate as a 'college' class. Next up, WBU!"

College officials announced last September that it had received university status, changing its name to Williams Baptist University, effective July 1.

The school was founded as Southern Baptist College in 1941 and was renamed after the college's founder, Dr. H.E. Williams, in 1991.
