SEARCY, AR (KAIT/KARK) - A Pocahontas pastor is now awaiting trial for vandalizing a woman's car.
According to KARK, it happened nearly two years ago when a Searcy woman parked in a handicap spot.
Erica Jenkins says she went to her dorm and all of the parking places were taken. Although she is not disabled herself, Jenkins says she parked in the handicap spot to run into her dorm room and use the bathroom.
"I heard this man shouting 'ma'am, ma'am you don't look like you're handicap,'" Jenkins says. "And he was just going on and on."
Jenkins says she planned on moving her vehicle and was in the dorm for about 20 minutes.
Surveillance video shows a man walking close to her car and then he proceeds to get into his own vehicle.
According to a Searcy police report, Dennis McCarty, a pastor at Pyburn Street Church of Christ in Pocahontas, is the suspect in the case and has been charged with criminal mischief.
McCarty says there are two sides to every story and says he will have his day in court soon.
Jenkins went on to say, "I forgive him because that's what God tells us to do but I'm very upset about the situation."
About $1,000 worth of damage was done to Jenkins' car.
McCarty's trial date has been set for July 3. He has pleaded not guilty.
