MARMADUKE, AR (KAIT) -

The city of Marmaduke, no stranger to weather disaster, became more prepared this week.

The city purchased two military-grade generators from the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management.

An electrician installed both of them Monday.

Mayor Steve Dixon said the 30-kilowatt one is secured at city hall and the 15-kilowatt generator is at the police department.

The purchase goes along with the city's effort in being better prepared for emergency disasters.

“It allows us to keep our operations going here, to keep city hall open, to keep the police and fire departments open so that we can respond to the needs of the community,” Dixon said.

An electric company out of Jonesboro should complete the installation process this week.
