Study: Blytheville one of the "Most Dangerous Cities" in America

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Despite seeing a decrease in crime, one Arkansas city remains one of the top 10 most dangerous cities in the country. Meanwhile, a Region 8 town is among the Top 100.

The National Council for Home Safety and Security released its Top 100 Most Dangerous Cities in America list for 2018. The top 10 cities, according to the Tuesday news release included:

  1. East St. Louis, IL
  2. Darby Borough, PA
  3. Opa Locka, FL
  4. Florida City, FL
  5. Flint, MI
  6. Detroit, MI
  7. Saginaw City, MI
  8. College Park, GA
  9. Prichard, AL
  10. West Memphis, AR

Blytheville, with a reported 13% increase in its crime trend, was ranked 60th on the Top 100 list.

Other towns and cities in Arkansas and Missouri on the list included:

   13. Sikeston, MO
   22. St. Louis, MO
   47. Little Rock, AR
   69. Pine Bluff, AR
   74. Jennings, MO
   80. Kansas City, MO
   83. Branson, MO

The study used the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting database and crime reports for the years 2010-2014. The database, according to the researcher’s methodology statement, is restricted to agencies that serve at least 10,000 people.
