ST. FRANCIS COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

A recent rash of church burglaries that bedeviled investigators may have come to an end with a man’s arrest.

On Monday morning, a concerned citizen called the St. Francis County Sheriff’s Office regarding a vehicle parked near a local church.

When deputies stopped the vehicle, according to a social media post by the sheriff’s department, they found several items that had been reported stolen from Zion Temple Church,

Deputies arrested the driver, 24-year-old Davan Cochran of Forrest City, and took him in for questioning. The interview led investigators to tie him to three other St. Francis County burglaries at Cedar Grove Church, New Hebron Church, and Lighthouse Ministries. He’s also suspected in several other recent church break-ins.

According to the post, Cochran has also been linked to a burglary at Butler Chapel Church in Cross County.

Detectives are currently reviewing the evidence and more charges could be forthcoming.
