LAKE CITY, AR (KAIT) -

Riverside High School received a grant Wednesday that will help its students complete a major project while learning about science and technology.

Officials with the CenturyLink Clark M. Williams Foundation presented EAST Facilitator Courtney Peters a $1,700 check.

“We are very excited,” Peters said. “This grant money will purchase the Drone Deploy app.”

The Riverside EAST and agriculture programs will have access to the app.

Students who are working on a cemetery-mapping project are using a drone to pinpoint gravestones.

Students will be able to control the drone from the app.

“This will help us with future projects and can do more things on this,” said Carson Smith, an EAST student. “We can improve our project next year and create a wide variety of projects in EAST so that we can help the community.”

The Drone Deploy app provides 3-D and 2-D imagery.

Each student thanked CenturyLink for the grant.
