POINSETT COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - According to Poinsett County Sheriff Kevin Molder, authorities have been able to identify the body found in a field Friday afternoon near the Craighead/Poinsett County line.
The body of Ricky Dale Woods is being sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab in Little Rock for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. However, Molder said authorities do not suspect foul play at this time.
According to a media release, Poinsett County deputies had received a call May 9 from Craighead County authorities to be on the lookout for Woods, including the vehicle he was driving.
Molder said deputies got a call from a local farmer around 12:50 p.m. May 10 that a van had been found on a field road just off Shady Grove Lane in Poinsett County.
"The vehicle was identified as the van Woods was driving. A search of the immediate area was conducted by the Craighead County Sheriff's Office and Poinsett County Sheriff's Office. We searched the area by using Craighead County's drone and our ground equipment," Molder said in a statement. "We did not locate Woods on May 10th."
However, Woods' body was discovered around 3:45 p.m. Friday just off White Road.
Molder said authorities are currently investigating all leads in the case, noting Craighead and Poinsett County deputies have been coordinating together on the investigation.
