JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

NEA Baptist Medical's ShareHope charitable foundation hosted their annual Mother's Day 5K on Saturday.

The organization hosts events like this for mothers who have suffered infant loss, miscarriage or still birth.

"This is really special for mothers like myself, that have had a loss," said ShareHope mom Andrea Simpson. "It gives us a moment and a time to recognize that we are still mothers, even though we don't have our child here anymore on this earth."

She said she knows events like this make a difference in the lives of many families.

"We get to come together and see a lot of people in this community and realize that we're not alone," she said.

This was the group's fourth annual Mother's Day 5K.

They hoped to raise around $10,000 during the event.

That money will go towards helping ShareHope families who don't have the resources to cover the cost of a funeral for their baby.
