LITTLE ROCK, AR (KAIT/KARK) - Teachers change things up in the classroom as they're ditching the traditional desks and chairs for furniture like couches, bean bags, and even yoga balls.
According to KARK, it's the first year teachers at Sylvan Hills Elementary in Little Rock have tried it. And they've seen unexpected results.
"I would think, uhh, percentage-wise, we're talking 45 percent decrease in discipline," Jason Young, Sylvan Hills principal said.
With summer just around the corner, students will have to wait to see if next year more teachers will use this different set up to continue making a difference.
The Danville School District in Yell County says it also has non-traditional classrooms.
