JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Over one million chainsaws are under recall due to a power switch malfunction.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall by Habor Freight Tools on Monday.

The recall involves Portland, One Stop Gardens, and Chicago Electric 14 inch electric chainsaws.

A power switch malfunction can allow the chainsaw to continue to run after the operator moves the switch to the "off" position.

So far, Harbor Freight Tools has received 15 reports of the chainsaws continuing to run, resulting in three laceration injuries. One of the injuries was serious and required arm stitches.

The chainsaws were sold at Harbor Freight Tools stores nationwide and online from May 2009 to February 2018 for about $50.

Customers should stop using the chainsaw and return it for a free replacement. CPCS states replacements will be available starting May 21.
