BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A Mountain Home man who was on parole is in jail once again on several new charges.
Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery said in a news release Tuesday that 35-year-old Eli Michael Weedman was arrested following an incident reported Sunday.
Deputies were dispatched to a house on Old Tracy Road regarding a burglary.
Montgomery stated Weedman and another unidentified male kicked in the door of the residence. Weedman is accused of carrying a handgun.
It was also alleged that Weedman forced a female acquaintance at the residence to leave with him. Personal property was also taken.
Weedman was then believed to be headed to a house on Baxter County Road 302.
At the house, deputies found the vehicle Weedman and the female were in, but there was no sign of them at the house.
The homeowner told investigators the pair went to a back bedroom, then left shortly thereafter with backpacks. Weedman's gun, a Jennings .22 semi-automatic pistol, was found in the bedroom.
Montgomery stated the female was able to get away from Weedman after he allowed her to call for a ride. She was found at her place of employment and interviewed.
She said Weedman came to the Old Tracy Road house and was armed. Weedman reportedly pointed the gun at another person in the house and ordered the female to leave with him. The victim thought he would hurt her if she refused since Weedman threatened her the day before.
Acting on a citizen tip, deputies found Weedman at a house on South Street in Mountain Home Monday afternoon and took him into custody.
During the arrest, Montgomery stated his deputies found "various articles of drug paraphernalia and prescription pills" at the house.
Samantha Rae Weedman, 25, was also arrested at the house for felony possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. She was released on a $2,000 bond and will be in circuit court on June 21.
Meanwhile, Weedman faces the following charges:
- Kidnapping – felony
- Aggravated robbery – felony
- Aggravated assault – felony
- Possession controlled substance – felony
- Possession of drug paraphernalia - felony
- Criminal mischief – misdemeanor
- Habitual offender – penalty enhancement
- Parole Violation - felony
Weedman is being held in lieu of a $150,000 bond. He is scheduled to be in circuit court on Friday.
The sheriff stated Weedman has been booked into the Baxter County Jail a total of 36 times since 2000.
Weedman's accomplice will be charged once his identity is determined.
