JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - There are very few people who can say they've seen over 100 years of life.
But Mrs. Madaline Doak celebrated her 102nd birthday Tuesday and her family said she's working on 110.
Mrs. Doak is a Craighead County native who spent many of her years teaching.
Now she spends her time reading, working crossword puzzles, and even bowling!
Several friends and family members stopped in at Ridgecrest Health and Rehabilitation to celebrate and share stories about Mrs. Doak.
"I can remember a time when we were driving a 1954 Dodge truck out of Nettleton and we were running out of gas," Mrs. Doak's son, Robert Doak said. "Mother made that truck go back and forth to rock the gas tank so we could get more gas out of the tank and she made it all the way to Southland which is in Lake City."
Her family said it's probably that determination that keeps her going now.
But Mrs. Doak said it's reading, working, and taking care of her children that have made her life so long.
And Mrs. Doak loved having her great-granddaughter visit, who she said inherited her name and her spunk.
