INDEPENDENCE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A consignment auction and family festival is being held Saturday by John 3:16 Ministries for the community to enjoy.
It's happening at their camp, located at 75 Holmes Road in Charlotte.
"It's a full day of fun," John 3:16 instructor James Ashley said. "We've got a fishing derby that starts at 10 a.m. as well as the auction. We've got kids' corner with all kinds of bounce houses for the kids to do."
The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has stocked the ministry's pond for the fishing derby.
They also have more than 600 items up for auction.
There is a large assortment of used items, including appliances, guns, vehicles, and tractors for people to see.
The ministry will earn 10% of the money that items are auctioned off for.
All of the proceeds will help men who are struggling with addiction to drugs or alcohol.
"It's a completely free program but it does take money though to keep the doors open," Ashley said. "But it's not just about the money. It's really about creating awareness, not just awareness of the problem, but awareness of the answer, which is Jesus Christ."
Right now, there are more than 150 men getting help from the ministry. Two new houses are also under construction to house more men.
The women in John 3:17 Ministries will also be at the festival, serving food and drinks to support their similar mission.
