JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - An acre and a half of curves, bumps, and turns at an angle will likely keep skateboarders and mountain bikers busy for some time to come with a new pump track in Jonesboro.

Jonesboro city officials announced Friday that the $200,000 track is located in Access 5 at Craighead Forest Park. The cost of the track was paid for through a 50/50 grant with Arkansas Outdoor Recreation.

In a media release, officials said the course was built with the beginner and experienced rider in mind.

"We have a lot of mountain bikers in the woods out there, but this is the first stabilized, non-dirt surface for them to enjoy," Jonesboro Parks and Recreation Director Danny Kapales said. "And it's great for skateboarders and rollerbladers."

Jonesboro Mayor Harold Perrin agreed, saying the track will help bring people to the area.

"I don't think I'll be doing this at my age, but it sure looks like something I would have enjoyed as a kid. I'm proud we got the grant and that our parks people worked hard to put this together in time for the holiday weekend. It's just another way to have fun in Jonesboro," Perrin said.
