One dead, four injured in two-vehicle crash near Hayti

PEMISCOT COUNTY, MO (KAIT) -

A Southeast Missouri man was killed and four others, including three children, were sent to area hospitals Friday night after a two-vehicle crash in Pemiscot County, according to a post on the Missouri State Highway Patrol website. 

William L. Hayes of Caruthersville was killed in the crash. He was driving a 1999 Mercury Marquis on Missouri Highway 84, east of Hayti, around 6:10 p.m. Friday when the crash happened. 

The online crash report noted that the crash happened when a 1994 Chevrolet Blazer, driven by Ricky L. Mitchell of Caruthersville, crossed the centerline and struck Hayes' vehicle head-on. 

Mitchell and the three children, ages 10, 5 and 4, were taken to the hospital due to their injuries.
