(KAIT/NBC) - You've remembered to spring clean the house, but don't forget about your car.
Every germ you touch in public goes into your car before you ever get home.
Gym equipment, shopping carts, and car seats are likely covered in nasty germs.
Professor Kevin Garey from the University of Houston says common bacteria like E. coli and staph may be present.
"I'd specifically be looking for c-diff because that can cause disease in vulnerable people, the elderly, people recently hospitalized, with antibiotics, these types of persons," said Garey.
Exposure to germs is good for most of us, although people who suffer from allergies may want to get their car detailed.
