JPD make arrest in April homicide

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Jonesboro man is in jail on a murder charge.

According to online jail records, 25-year-old Khalid Karim Robertson was booked into the Craighead County Detention Center Monday afternoon on a first-degree murder charge.

In a probable cause hearing on Tuesday, Jonesboro police revealed that Robertson was arrested in connection to the Devontae Fowler murder investigation.

The affidavit states Robertson borrowed a mini-van from a friend and drove it to the shooting scene on South Caraway Road on Wednesday, April, 25.

The friend told police that he let Robertson borrow the mini-van the night of the shooting, and the next morning he found a shell casing in the van.

The man threw the casing in the front lawn, where police found it later.

Police sent the bullet to the crime lab, and the evidence showed it was the same gun and casing from the Fowler shooting scene.

On May 21, police questioned Robertson about the shooting, and he told police that he did borrow the mini-van on the day of the shooting from his friend, but drove it to a home on Oakdale Street to drop off drugs.

Police noted that Oakdale Street is three-blocks from where Fowler was shot.

Robertson said after he dropped off the drugs, he dropped the mini-van back off at his friend's house, and that he only had the vehicle for about 30 minutes.

According to the affidavit, his friend told police Robertson had the mini-van for an hour.

A judge found probable cause to charge Robertson with first-degree homicide, unlawful discharge of a firearm from a vehicle, and unauthorized use of another person's property to facilitate a crime.

His bond was set at $2,500,000. The prosecutor's office originally requested a $5,000,000 bond.

He's due back in court on June 29.
