CAVE CITY, AR (KAIT) -

As part of the city of Cave City's new planning commission, the mayor is hoping to find out what community members hope to see added to the town in the future.

Mayor Jonas Anderson held a roundtable meeting with several of the city's business owners this week, to find out how they think the city should move forward.

"We brought in probably 10 or 15 business owners and just had a discussion about here's where we are, here's where we want to be, and here's kind of how we think we're going to have to get there," Anderson said.

There was also a conversation about the strengths and weaknesses that the town has right now as well as listing specific improvements the participants would like to see made.

"One of the big things too that we face was quality of life, just things for people to do, things for young people to do and things for some of our senior citizens to do," Anderson said. "We've had people discuss a senior citizen's program. In the last several years, we've made a lot of improvements to our park and we want to keep working on that."

Anderson said the business owners were also very supportive of his plans, which including working to update the community facility and the city's public pool.

"Our goal and my goal is to make Cave City not only a place that the people that are here want to stay at but also a place where new people want to come and raise a family," Anderson said.
