Two Guards, Inmate Charged at Federal Prison in Forrest City

SEPTEMBER 9, 2005 - Posted at 8:05 a.m. CDT

LITTLE ROCK, AR - U.S. Attorney Bud Cummins of Little Rock says two guards and an inmate at the federal prison in Forrest City have been charged with smuggling contraband into the lockup, and giving or taking bribes to do so.  A news release from Cummins' office yesterday said the three were charged in an indictment handed up Wednesday by a federal grand jury.

The release named those indicted as Celeste Akers and Angela Davis, both guards at the prison, and inmate Trece Clark.  The release said bribes were taken by the guards in exchange for smuggling contraband into the prison.  According to the release, Akers is specifically charged with smuggling both marijuana and cocaine into the prison for inmates.
