(RNN) – Police located the SUV involved in an hit-and-run accident that injured three women in Portland, OR on Friday. The 2005 blue Mazda Tribute with gray bumpers was found about three miles away from the incident.
An alert citizen called 911 when they saw the SUV on the street with the damage, and the driver sitting inside the car.
Police took the driver into custody and say they are not searching for any other suspects or vehicles. The suspect is an older, white male, and was taken into custody without incident. They are looking into the driver's past.
The women were taken to the hospital, according to the Portland Oregonian. The driver fled the scene. It's not clear if the driver was with the car when police found it. Police tweeted that the community is not in danger.
One woman is in critical condition, another in serious, and the family of the third woman has asked no updates be given on her condition, according to Sgt. Chris Burley of the Portland Police. Police are looking for a possible fourth victim they heard may have left the area in a private car.
At about 10 a.m. local time, an SUV hit people near a restaurant that has outdoor seating near Portland State University Urban Center. University buildings, businesses, and subway and bus stops fill the area.
Police said it’s not clear if the incident was intentional or an accident. They are also collecting any surveillance video from near the scene.
Witnesses said they heard a loud noise then screaming, and that there were articles of clothing on the sidewalk.

Another witness told KGW on live streaming that she saw a Blue SUV with tinted windows going way too fast in the public transit-only lanes, and then jumped the sidewalk.
Christopher Bond told The Oregonian that after the Blue SUV hit three people, he heard the driver gun the motor as it came towards him. He was not injured, saying he was able to press himself up against the wall as the SUV passed him.
