JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Afternoon showers didn't stop a group of bikers from honoring our fallen heroes on Memorial Day.

Bikers lined the parking lot at Jonesboro VFW Post 1991 and revved up their engines for a Time to Remember Memorial Ride.

They drove to the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in Birdeye.

During the ride, bikers from across Region 8 paid their respect to the men and women who gave their lives for our country.

Rain or shine, the event went on.

Michael Whatley was one of several bikers who participated in the ride, and he said it's the very least he could do to honor America's fallen heroes.

"The guys that gave their lives before me, I appreciate them and the service and sacrifice they gave for me to have the freedoms and life I have," Whatley said. "That is why this event is very important to me."

According to Whatley, proceeds from the ride will support local vets, including wounded veterans in hospitals.

A remembrance ceremony was also held at the cemetery following the memorial ride.
