CARAWAY, AR (KAIT) -

Many people are making their way to Caraway in order to call the small-town home.

According to Caraway Mayor Barry Riley, the city recently sold five one-acre lots near the town’s public fishing pond.

“These lots are on Payne and Bowen Streets,” Riley said. “We are very proud and ready for people to build in Caraway.”

Riley said soon, five more one-acre lots will be on the market, along with 5.3-acres of land that will be available on the other side of town.

“We are planning on developing that land that sits right behind our dollar store off State Street,” Riley said. “It’ll be for housing or apartments either one. That’s what we are looking at right now.”

The town took a punch when a tornado swept through in 2013.

Riley said the city lost 11 businesses after the storm, so this growth is a big boost for Caraway.

“We’ve been working hard since the tornado hit to get the town back to where it was,” Riley said. “The Dollar General will be putting in a building here, that won’t be long. We also have Access Medical Group coming, which will be opening soon, and we’ll have a doctor in our city as well.”
