JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - After a 15-year-old was hit by a truck while on a bicycle at the intersection of W. Washington Avenue Meadowbrook Street, several residents came forward, expressing concern regarding a lack of sidewalks in the area.

According to Jonesboro police, the teen was riding his bike down Meadowbrook Street and didn't stop for the truck.

One Jonesboro resident feels the incident highlights a bigger issue.

"A lot of kids play out here," said Jonesboro resident Dorthear Smith. "I also have granddaughters who play on their bikes. We don't have any sidewalks. Nowhere a kid can play and ride their bike down the sidewalk. They have to ride out in the street and it's really dangerous for them to ride their bikes out here because there are no sidewalks."

The teen was airlifted and is now being treated at Regional One Medical Center in Memphis.
