JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Police are investigating the theft of three vending machines at a former hotel.

Jonesboro police were dispatched to 3006 S. Caraway Rd. on Thursday. It was formerly the Fairbridge Inn and had been fenced off for auction.

An overseer of the property spoke with Officer Susan Gray about the incident.

According to the witness, the fence on the back side had been pushed down intentionally.

When Gray and the witness went to the back of the building to enter it they noticed the chain had been cut and a different lock was placed on it to make appear secure.

Gray along with another officer found several unlocked doors inside with damaged locks. Also, drywall was discovered to be damaged and some wiring may have been removed.

In addition, three Pepsi vending machines valued at $3,000 were taken.

Extra patrols were added to the area as the site was secured again.

The case has been reviewed by the JPD Criminal Investigation Division.
