JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A fundraiser that has been held by Jonesboro firefighters for nearly two decades has provided support for people with muscular dystrophy.
The annual Jonesboro Fire Department "Fill the Boot for MDA" fundraiser kicked off Friday as firefighters collected money at the corner of Nettleton Avenue and Red Wolf Boulevard.
Jason Oleson, who serves as the president of the Jonesboro Professional Firefighters Association, said the event helps many people.
"It's awesome. The things that MDA will be able to do with this money for children and adults alike. The things that can be done with that. It's just amazing knowing it's going to help people be able to do things to lead a more ordinary life for longer," Oleson said.
