JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A new Citizens' Climate Lobby Chapter in Craighead County is working to raise awareness about climate change.
On Saturday, the group held an introductory climate advocate workshop at the Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library.
The workshop provided those in attendance with information about climate change and speaking with area lawmakers about the issues.
"If you care about climate solutions, if you care about having a livable world then I encourage you to get involved," said CCL state coordinator Jan Schaper. "Citizen's Climate Lobby is working all across the United States and whether somebody has five minutes a month or five hours a month, there is a place for you in Citizen's Climate Lobby."
The Citizens' Climate Lobby is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization.
"We believe that if enough people understand that the climate science and then start to call their members of Congress that this will create the political will for Congress to do something about climate," said group leader Jean Larson.
There are four other CCL chapters in Arkansas.
