JONESBORO, AR - A new Hispanic Community Services center has opened in Jonesboro. The larger building will allow for expanded services. The services include music and citizenship classes, counseling, employment assistance, and a 24-hour bilingual hotline for emergencies.

The center originally opened eight years ago as part of a local Catholic Church. Last year, operators incorporated and it became an independent agency.

Jonesboro Mayor Doug Formon says the renovated two-story building is an improvement to the neighborhood. He says he would like to see Hispanic residents more involved in city government, serving on committees that shape policy.
