JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Jonesboro police arrested a man Monday suspected of having sex with a 14-year-old girl.
Craighead County District Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause Tuesday to charge Tyler Wayne Parnell, 24, of Jonesboro with fourth-degree sexual assault.
On May 12, police were called to St. Bernards Medical Center regarding a sexual assault. The 14-year-old victim told officers that a few days earlier she had gone to Parnell's apartment where they had sex.
During questioning, Parnell reportedly admitted to having sex with the victim but denied knowing her true age.
After reviewing the investigator's affidavit, Fowler set Parnell's bond at $5,000 and ordered him to appear in circuit court on July 27. The judge also issued no-contact orders for the victim and her parents.
