WEST MEMPHIS, AR - Authorities say two robbery suspects were arrested after a chase that resulted in the death of a state trooper in Crittenden County.

The two suspects were being sought for an armed robbery of a gas station in Forrest City.  Police say the car was stolen.

Trooper Mark W. Carthron threw strips onto Interstate-40 in Crittenden County, which ultimately brought the vehicle to a halt.  Carthron was struck by another trooper's car when picking up the strips.  He was pronounced dead at a Memphis hospital early this morning.

Authorities say they have not decided on whether to charge the suspects in Carthron's death.

Police identified the suspects as 26-year-old Wesley Jefferson of 27-year-old Reginald Dixon, both of West Memphis.  They were taken to the St. Francis County Jail.
