Marion Mayor Among Arkansas Trade Delegation Visiting Japan

SEPTEMBER 13, 2005 - Posted at 7:56 a.m. CDT

MARION, AR - Marion Mayor Frank A. Fogleman says a visit to Japan that's now underway by Arkansas economic developers and civic leaders will prove helpful to the state.  In an e-mail to the West Memphis Evening Times, Fogleman said that last week, the group visited the World Expo at Aichi, Japan, and also toured the Hino Hamura manufacturing plant in Tokyo.  The group is to return to the United States on Thursday.

The mayor said the visit to Japan had been extremely valuable to east Arkansas, which has been trying to attract a major auto maker to build a plant in the area, as well as associated parts makers.  He said those on the trip are learning a lot about the needs of our Japanese friends and how Arkansas can best go about meeting those needs through training and other public services.
